Today, I called into Paul Weyrich’s show, The Right Hour, on Right Talk Radio because the co-host was downgrading Ron Paul’s double-digit results in Iowa. I pointed out that he got 29 per cent of the Independent vote, with the next figure being 23 per cent that went to McCain.

Some Michigan Congressional Representative was on the line and he chimed in with the complaint that Republican Primaries and Caucuses are for Republican voters, not Independents or Democrats and that it was “unfair” for them to participate. Well, tell that to Ronald Reagan. He openly called for Democrats to cross-over to vote for him in the primaries—and thank goodness. Otherwise, we might have been stuck with a Bush as president during those crucial years.

Moreover, if you look at the article I linked to above, Eisenhower did the same thing, with more regrettable results, he beat Taft.
