Laar at Cheat-Seeking Missiles, writes about the raid in Pakistan and the initial reports that we got al-Zawhari. He brings for our examination the paranoid rantings of the Bush-haters who glory in our failure to get this creep. Go read his post.
Meanwhile, Baron Bodissey at Gates of Vienna discusses how the whole incident smells bad.
Pakistan leaked the news that Zawahiri might be dead, thus guaranteeing maximum exposure in worldwide media sources — I counted 786 stories on the topic the last time I checked Google news.
Then they reveal that he’s not really dead. Sorry, fellows! We goofed!
Now they can register a “strong protest†with the U.S. government about the incident, gaining even more wide publicity, and thereby making it much more difficult for us to mount a similar operation in the future.
The raid was based on “bad information” and the Baron discusses the source of the “bad information.” Could it be the Pakistani ISI?
Today, I read The Al Qaeda Connection by Paul L. Williams. I have never read a scarier book. The role of the Pakistanis in the proliferation of nuclear weapon technology to rogue states and Al Qaeda was significant. I question how well our leaders are “managing” them.
Meanwhile, Michelle Malkin discusses the situation with Iran. Among other thing, the nut-job Iranian President is noted to have instructed that a Grand Avenue be built in Tehran when he was Mayor of that city. This was to be built so that, after his second coming, the Mahdi could be feted in a procession. Guess who thinks he’s the Mahdi?
This reminds of additional information in The Al Qeda Connection. A Hezbollah-Shiite from Lebanon named Iawah Mugniyah is credited with having brought about a union between Shiite and Sunnis. Mugniyah met with Bin Laden in 1995 in Sudan on numerous occasions resulting in an financial agreement regarding the flow of drugs from Afghanistan to Turkey and then through northern Iran. Iran is in league with Bin Laden, it appears from the evidence marshalled in the book.
Moreover, the book discusses the placing of strategic resources, including human resources, throughout America by Al Qeda. Much comes up from Muslim enclaves in South America that have been there since the mid-1970’s. Gangbangers from MS-13 help smuggle them into our country.
Bin Ladin is planning what he calls an “American Hiroshima” using these resources. Who knows how close he is?
Given how we are “on the brink”, as Michelle describes it, I can’t help wondering if Ahmadinejad is the “stalking-horse” on the way to a “perfect storm” orchestrated by Bin Laden.
I think that “Mahdi” Ahmadinejad is imagining himself proceeding down that Grand Avenue right now.
I have a feeling that I am going to have nightmares tonight.
